I firmly believe in the value of studying aloud. Students should memorize vocabulary aloud and review notes from class aloud. Parents/guardians can help a student review and study by asking him/her to explain what has been learned. Forcing a student to verbalize these concepts truly helps them own the material.
Students should keep a binder for my class. In this binder he/she should have all notes, worksheets, vocabulary study sheets, quizzes and tests. Parents/guardians can, and should, ask to see this binder periodically and ask questions about the students work. Don't worry about knowing the material yourself, have them explain it to you.....hopefully you will understand after they teach it to you. :)
*Regardless of practice assignments, students should plan on spending 20 minutes each night they have had class just on studying vocabulary aloud!
I do not offer extra credit, but I do offer extra help.
